I have never been through this process before, but I'm not left with a rousing sense of competence from my doctors when they mis-schedule an appointment, and then brush me off when I question it.
I was scheduled for a "dating" ultrasound yesterday, and then was scheduled for a "genetic testing" ultrasound today. That seemed kind of odd, so I said "I really go for genetic testing that soon?" I am only at 7 weeks right now. The nurses looked at me like a fool, and said "yeah, that's when it is."
So today I go for the genetic testing ultrasound, and the receptionist says "Why are you here? It's way too early for this." The ultrasound tech says "I don't know why you're here, it's not like we'll really be able to see anything" and the doctor finally said "It seems like they scheduled you too early, but on purpose. Not sure why."
So yeah, I just spent 2 1/2 hours, plus $5 for parking for an ultrasound that couldn't show anything. And they wonder why our healthcare costs are so high.
